Summer holidays have officially arrived and Droitwich Spa is packed with exciting family-friendly events to keep everyone entertained. From magical story trails and creative workshops to outdoor cinema nights and family days, there’s something for all ages to enjoy this summer.

1. Once Upon a Trail

๐Ÿ“… 3 July – 1 September
Step into a real-life fairytale as Droitwich Spa transforms into an enchanting storybook adventure. Discover ten beautifully decorated windows across the town, each inspired by local landmarks and unique features of Droitwich. One special display has even been designed by members of the Droitwich Youth Council.

  • Pick up a trail booklet from Droitwich Library, Heritage Centre or the Crafty Cafe.
  • Hunt for hidden words in each magical window displays.
  • Use the words to create your own fairytale story.
  • Complete the trail and collect a FREE prize from the library.

  • Mondays – Story Train, suitable for ages 2-5 at 11am.
  • Tuesdays – Bounce and Rhythm, music, instruments and bubbles. Suitable for ages 0-2 at 11am. (Booking is essential)
  • Wednesdays – Stay & Play, toys are out in the Children’s Area. Suitable for ages 0-2 at 1:30pm-3:30pm.
  • Fridays – Mr Corbett’s Coffee Shop, come and chat with our lovely community at 10:30am-11:40am.
  • Saturdays – Board Games & Lego Club at 10:30am-1pm.

2. Summer of Fun at Churchfields Farm

For families seeking a quieter, but equally enjoyable activity, Droitwich Spa Heritage Centre is hosting a series of free craft sessions inspired by the National Year of Reading. These workshops aim to encourage creativity while celebrating books and storytelling.

4. Family Cooking Course

Want to make family mealtimes healthier and easier? Westlands Community Centre is offering a free four-week Family Cooking Course designed to help families gain confidence in the kitchen.

Participants will learn practical cooking skills, discover simple meal-preparation techniques and create nutritious homemade dishes together. The course also focuses on reducing food waste, using leftovers and preparing budget friendly meals that the whole family can enjoy.

With limited spaces, this is a fantastic opportunity for families looking to pick up valuable culinary skills while spending time together.

5. Outdoor Cinemea

Pack your blanket, grab some popcorn and enjoy a movie outside in nature. The district’s popular FREE outdoor cinema returns with screenings at venues across the district.

From Wychbold Park, Droitwich Spa Cricket Club, Abbey Park in Pershore to Broadway Village Green, families can enjoy films and make it a family-day out in the town or village!

6. Band in the Park

If you are looking for a more relaxed family outing, Band in the Park offers the perfect Sunday afternoon experience. Held at the bandstand in Lido Park, these free concerts feature a variety of talented local performers throughout Summer.

Visitors can enjoy everything from jazz ensembles, brass bands to concert performances while soaking up the summer atmosphere. Many families bring picnics and make an afternoon of it, make it a wonderful way to spend quality time together without spending a penny.

7. Summer Youth Camp

๐Ÿ“… Every Thursday in August | 2pm – 4pm
Designed specially for children aged 9 to 12, the Summer Youth Camp offers a welcoming environment where young people can make friends, build confidence and enjoy exciting activities throughout the holidays.

Each session includes games, team challenges and social activities aimed at encouraging teamwork and helping children develop new friendships before heading into a new school year. It’s an exciting way for young children to stay active, connected and engaged during the summer break.

8. PAL Holiday Camp

Children looking for an action-packed day during the holidays will love the PAL Holiday Camp at Westlands First School. The programme has been carefully designed to combine physical activity, creativity and well-being into one exciting experience.

Rounding off our list is the Sunflower Droitwich Cinema Trip, offering children a chance to relax and enjoy the big screen experience with friends. The trip includes a family-friendly film and of course, the opportunity to enjoy a classic cinema treat.

As well as being a fun day out, the trip helps children socialise, build friendships and create positive holiday memories before returning to school.

11. Free Swimming and Splash Pad Fun

๐Ÿ“… From 1 September

Looking for an affordable way to stay active and have fun as a family? Thanks to the ยฃ5 million We Are Wychavon Support Fund, free swimming and swimming lessons are available for eligble Wychavon residents aged under 16 and over 60.

The scheme provides free access to public swimming sessions at Evesham and Pershore Leisure Centre from 1 August, with Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre joining the programme when it fully reopens on 1 September. Whether your child is learning to swim or simply looking for a fun activity, this initiative offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the benefits of swimming at no cost.

Considering the warm weather during this month, families can also take advantage of Droitwich Spa’s popular FREE Splash Pad, which is open from May through September. Perfect for younger children, the splash pad provides a fun and refreshing way to cool down during the summer holidays while enjoying the outdoors.

Between the swimming pools and the splash pad, there are plenty of opportunities to keep active and enjoy some water-based fun before the summer comes to an end.
